Decathlon and NISSA Engineering announce Russia's largest robotic warehouse logistics system expansion

● The system operates at Decathlon warehouses in Moscow and St. Petersburg. 

● The system allows to increase the order picking speed by 7.5 times.

● Order collection error probability becomes practically zero. 

● Based on the results of six months of operation, a decision was made to further expand the system; the fleet of Decathlon robots in Moscow will triple. 

In 2020, Decathlon successfully deployed a robotic warehouse logistics system, based on Geek+ technology. The system is to the high extent the largest one in Russia and consists of two components operating at Decathlon warehouses in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The project uses the “goods to person” concept, for the first time in Russian warehouse practice. The solution implementation allowed Decathlon to increase order picking process productivity by 7.5 times against manual picking. At the same time, incorrect order collection probability  is reduced to almost zero, thanks to the use of RFID technology and the “pick to light” system. The system processes 100% of the products on the Decathlon.ru e-com website. 

Based on several months of operation results, a decision was made to triple the automated assembly zone activity in Moscow with the prospect of further increasing the load. The number of robots at the Moscow site will reach 150. Warehouse robotization has also opened up additional business opportunities for Decathlon and expanded cooperation with leading marketplaces. The client can receive the collected order in several ways: delivery to the points of issue of Ozon, Wildberries or Yandex.Market, delivery to the door using partner companies or Click-and-collect - free delivery to the point of issue in any of the Decathlon stores.
