RZD Logistics JSC (a subsidiary of Russian Railways JSC) and the transport group FESCO, as part of the development of the accelerated transit cargo delivery service Trans-Siberian LandBridge, are expanding the range of goods transported from countries of the Asia-Pacific Region (APR) to Europe adding dangerous goods to it.
Containers with acids used in pharmaceuticals and industry from Qingdao (China) as well as with auto parts and various equipment from Busan (Republic of Korea) were delivered by FESCO’s regular marine service to Commercial Port of Vladivostok, where an accelerated container train was formed of them. The train arrived in Brest on 10th of March, as a result, the transit time on track gauge 1520 was 12 days in total. Afterwards the containers were transferred onto the 1435 gauge rolling stock and then, upon arrival at the destination station, they were transported by truck to customers' warehouses in Poland, Belgium and Germany.
At the end of May 2019, the companies launched the joint Trans-Siberian LandBridge service, at the same time the test container was shipped from the Japanese port of Yokohama to the Polish city of Wroclaw. At the end of July, the service geography was expanded to include shipments from the Republic of Korea to Europe.
“The transportation of dangerous goods from the Asia-Pacific countries to Europe is a very promising area of focus. Today, shipments of dangerous goods go by sea, but we are ready to offer the market a proven service that guarantees both cargo safety and a double reduction in delivery time within the Trans-Siberian LandBridge service”, Dmitry Murev, General Director of RZD Logistics JSC.
“We see great interest on the part of customers in our Trans-Siberian LandBridge service, so we decided to expand the range of goods by adding a highly sought-after in-demand transportation of dangerous goods. Taking into account our competencies, accumulated experience and the availability of our own assets throughout the entire multimodal chain, we can guarantee our customers compliance with delivery deadlines and, most importantly, the safety of transportation to anywhere in Europe”, Maxim Sakharov, President of FESCO.
