First of all, we would like to draw readers' attention to our new partner R1 Development, a development company that creates a new generation environment and specializes in the construction of industrial, logistics, commercial and residential real estate. Dear readers! We present to your attention the final issue of the LOGISTICS journal in 2024. We have tried to make it rich and interesting. Today, many Russian companies operate under strict sanctions restrictions, which force them to reorient logistics flows. One of the possible solutions to this problem may be the Russia – Mongolia – China economic corridor. Details can be found in the article by Alexandra Kazunina.
Ekaterina Trofimova, Tablogix Warehouse Manager, spoke at the conference Supply Chain Day “Behind the scenes of logistics” that took place at Congress Center of RF Chamber of Commerce on the 21th of April. She described the lean manufacturing tools which are used in the warehouse of the Swedish cosmetics company Oriflame. The Oriflame Distribution Centre, of 24 000 sq.m., has been under Tablogix management since 2012.
The conference was organized by the Russian business community “Logisticians Club” with the aim of raising awareness about the value of logistics in business and everyday life. “Behind the scenes of logistics” was part of an initiative of the German Logistics Association BVL to celebrate Supply Chain Day in Europe, annually, on the third Thursday of April. In Russia Supply Chain Day was celebrated for the first time on April 21st 2016 and the conference was dedicated to this event.
Ms. Trofimova delivered a speech as part of the session «3PL» and elaborated on the full range of lean manufacturing tools in the warehouse, such as, Visualisation, 5S, TPM, Kanban, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke etc. Many of the ideas were introduced under the initiative of employees in the warehouse. The presentation captured the attention of the audience because of its practical focus and relevance in terms of reducing logistics costs. The speaker presented many photos to demonstrate examples of using of lean manufacturing tools in the warehouse. She also elaborated on the implementation specifics, quantitative measurement of results, and shared plans for the quarter.
Concluding her speech Ms. Trofimova noted that lean management doesn’t require capital expenditures and improves the efficiency of warehouse operations. New methods and tools have brought economic benefits to Oriflame distribution center. The warehouse team has achieved the following results: increase in speed of cargo handling and order picking, elimination of the causes of inventory damage and damage during transportation. The introduction of lean culture improved the psychological atmosphere in the team.
