Samarkand, Uzbekistan, 17 July, 2024 – Responding to growing demand for modern trade and transport infrastructure, Uzbekistan investment and industrial group SEG Enera has announced plans for a major new multimodal transport and logistics center in Samarkand.
To be called Logopark Samarkand, the 40,000 sq m complex is expected to open in mid-2025. Construction by Marakand Logair, a SEG Enera company, began earlier this year. Plans call for all-temperature warehousing and a wide range of auxiliary services and facilities. Negotiations have already begun with prospective customers, including leading international and local e-commerce, distribution, manufacturing and logistics companies. Project planners expect the complex to significantly shorten supply chains and their lead times, and increase cargo transport flexibility.
Ikrom Yadgarov, Marakand Logair’s general director, said:
“In the Samarkand region, taking into account the dynamic growth rates of both domestic and international trade, there is significant unmet demand for modern warehouse space. We are ready to offer potential clients dry, cold, and bonded warehouses for long-term storage of imported goods without going through customs procedures. We are convinced that the center’s services will help more businesses in selling products both domestically and abroad.”
Dmitry Kochiev, director of M&A at SEG Enera, said:
“The construction of this complex is a new, extremely promising and in many ways a logical direction of business for our group. The logistics center has a favorable location - on the main highway of the Republic of Uzbekistan (M-37), on land neighboring Samarkand International Airport, which is managed by another of our subsidiaries, Air Marakanda. Taken together, this gives a tangible synergistic effect. We can offer our clients a fully-fledged transport and logistics cluster and favorable service conditions.”
SEG Enera is developing a number of other investment projects in the Samarkand region. In addition to the already successfully operating airport and Silk Road Samarkand tourist complex, the company is participating in the reconstruction of the Ferkensco phosphate fertilizer plant and is nearing the completion of the construction of Samarkand International Technological University’s campus.
