Dear readers! We present to your attention the third issue of the LOGISTICS journal for 2025. Our editorial staff, like all our colleagues, is preparing for the TransRussia 2025 exhibition, the largest event in the industry. In this issue, we have prepared an interview with Natalia Lomunova, Director of TransRussia, with whom we are talking about a flexible approach, new participants and digital services. We continue the series of articles from P.V.
Dear readers! We present to your attention the first issue of the LOGISTICS journal in 2025. First of all, we would like to draw readers' attention to our new partner R1 Development, a development company that creates a new generation environment and specializes in the construction of industrial, logistics, commercial and residential real estate. One of the projects of R1 Development is the Druzhba industrial park network.
Dear readers! We present to your attention the final issue of the LOGISTICS journal in 2024. We have tried to make it rich and interesting. Today, many Russian companies operate under strict sanctions restrictions, which force them to reorient logistics flows. One of the possible solutions to this problem may be the Russia – Mongolia – China economic corridor. Details can be found in the article by Alexandra Kazunina.
CROC has implemented an out-of-the-box solution that allows for the rapid launch of IT infrastructure at new Selgros Cash & Carry stores. Easily controlled from a single point, the new fault-tolerant platform accelerated the performance of retailer’s local business applications, reduced the risk of data loss, and contributed to a 3-times reduction in IT infrastructure TCO.
Selgros Cash & Carry was looking to upgrade infrastructure at two Moscow stores and to support their stable operation during peak load, including periods of seasonal sales and special promo offers. In addition, the company wanted to adopt a unified administration environment in order to centralize IT infrastructure management and streamline maintenance via a small team of full-time IT specialists, while a further project requirement was the implementation of a flexibly scaled IT infrastructure in line with geographical expansion plans. CROC proposed a solution based on the SimpliVity OmniCube hyper-converged system to satisfy all of the customer's needs.
CROC deployed such modular hardware and software packages at each store, thus creating a local IT infrastructure to run business systems and store data backups from cash desks, in-store equipment, and EGAI[1]. A preinstalled combination of computing and data storage capabilities within a single package enabled uninterrupted operation of the customer's information systems without performance degradation and reduced the risk of cash desk downtime. In addition, the customer can now quickly deploy this scalable and easy-to-configure platform to create full-featured fault-tolerant basic infrastructure at new stores and launch business processes by following a standard scenario.
The new infrastructure shares computing load among geographically distributed clusters, thus ensuring stable operation, even with slow communication links, and also offers data backup and deduplication functions. As a result, the customer now benefits from secure data backup, faster copying and recovery, as well as improved integrity in the event of power failure or other emergencies.
"To operate stores, we need easy-to-use and highly fault-tolerant infrastructure. Therefore, we sought an efficient solution to unify IT resources, improve business service reliability, and create a foundation for network expansion. The hyper-converged platform not only addressed all these challenges, but also allowed us to create centrally managed storage clusters used to backup data from our geographically distributed sites and switch from purchasing and supporting separate components, such as servers, data storage systems, and software, to ready-to-use modular systems. As a result, we significantly improved the performance of business systems and lowered equipment maintenance costs and IT staff workload," said Denis Korovin, Head of IT Department, Selgros Cash & Carry.
"We took into account all customer requirements to create a ready-to-use store infrastructure that can be easily replicated at the retailer's other sites. Indeed, this easy-to-maintain hyper-converged platform can be implemented within the shortest possible time. As a result, with the support of CROC experts, Selgros Cash & Carry IT specialists can now build standard high availability environments for newly opened stores," said Vladimir Kolganov, Head of Data Storage Systems, CROC.
