Dear Readers! There was published the fourth issue of the LOGISTICS journal of 2016

"Modern logistics cannot be imagined without information technologies", ‒ said Dmitry Novikov, Doctor of Economics, professor, Head of the innovative logistics department in ITKOR, who addressed to the readers with his words of welcome. According to Dmitry Novikov, key factors in materials management are the speed of data acquisition and of data processing, the ability to handle large arrays.

 Today selection, purchase and implementation of specialized software are considered to be the strategic decisions in any logistics company, which define its life for years to come. In order to make such a decision it is necessary to study in detail both the existing logistics processes and the features of the IT-system in question. On the pages of the 4th issue of the “LOGISTICS” journal, dedicated to IT-technologies, you are sure to get some answers to the questions which arise while selecting and utilizing the IT-systems.

We are happy to get you acquainted with the interview of Alexei Timashov, CEO of AXELOT firm. Almost 20 years-experience in the market of IT-technologies allows him not only to judge objectively about the features of the warehouse automation and transport logistics in Russia, but also to make predictions for the future. 

In this issue we will also inform you about interactive communication between a man and a machine ‒ the STILL firm will present their own innovative development ‒ iGo neo CX 20 ‒ serial robotic warehouse order picking device.

The materials grouped under the other headings will be of great interest for the readers either. Eugene Ledenev and Timur Sabatkoev will consider the issues, dedicated to the implementation of LEAN concepts at the industrial enterprises of DTEK Group. The authors will present a business case on the implementation of the system to improve the efficiency at a big energy company in the Ukraine. Pavel Popov, Igor Miretsky, Oksana Shevchenko in their article "Creation of a network of distribution centers on the territory of the Russian Federation" with the use of cluster analysis and the ABC-analysis will determine the main areas in which it is expedient to deploy the international logistics centers. Maria Lobanova will consider the quality assessment tools to monitor the goods transportation process with the use of satellite traffic monitoring system.

Very soon, "Logistics" journal will take part in the CeMAT-2016 exhibition. The event will take place in Hanover from May 31 to June 3, 2016. This year, the leading international exhibition, dedicated to the internal logistics and management of freight flows, advances to the foreground digital technologies and automation systems, and the organizers draw the attention of visitors to the digital and logistical value chains. We are convinced that CeMAT generates current directions of the internal logistics development and reveals the growth potential of the industry. We will describe the results of the exhibition in following numbers.
