Annotation. The transportation of perishable goods is one of the most challenging tasks for mathematical modeling. In such problems, the priority is clarity in planning shipments and delivering the cargo, with key variables being time constraints. Every analyst working on such models must have experience and knowledge of real-world conditions – and, most importantly, the ability to present the solution results as actionable recommendations in a format understandable to the client. The article examines a generalized mathematical model, which is broken down into stages, each with its own models and solution methods. In conclusion, the overall transportation scheme is analyzed, and recommendations are provided for drafting contracts between producers and retail outlets.
Key words. Perishable cargo, freight transportation, transportation, mathematical model, least cost method, assignment problem, transportation network.
