Annotation. The article shown that ensuring visibility / traceability throughout the supply chain today is becoming a prerequisite for all contractors in the value chain – from the supplier of raw materials to the retailer. Attention is focused on the role of labeling in the context of improving the visibility and traceability of the supply chains of goods of the FMCG sector. The trends of improving marking systems in the context of digitalization are analyzed and the main factors that influence the importance of improving traceability and the introduction of digital marking are identified. The business case of building a digital system for monitoring and labeling food products is considered.
