Pallet pooling has helped the dairy producer prevent 4.6 tonnes of waste generation and reduce CO2 emissions by 56 tonnes
AISFER, the vertically integrated Russian high-quality dairy producer, was awarded an Environmental Compliance Certificate recognizing its contribution to reducing its impact on the environment. Thanks to its 100% transition to the pooling model with CHEP reusables for the last year, the company succeeded in cutting its greenhouse gas emissions and waste generation, not to mention saving a significant amount of forest resources.
As a responsible high-quality producer, AISFER is focused on implementing innovative business models, one of which is reusable container pooling. Repeat usage of CHEP wooden pallets increases the business’ operational efficiency, optimizing its consumption of resources and reducing its environmental footprint. Such an approach ensures the sustainable development of the business without harm to the planet. The result of the first year of collaboration between AISFER and CHEP is a significant contribution to environmental protection. 100% transitioning to the pooling model has led to СО2 emissions being halved (by 56.1 tonnes), to waste generation being cut by 77% and to 72% more timber being saved.
“The year 2020 turned out to be difficult for most companies. Nevertheless, CHEP proved itself to be a reliable partner, ensuring an uninterrupted supply of pallets,” remarked Sergey Solomonidin, Deputy Logistics Director at AISFER. “We are proud that our working together is not only effective from the point of view of supplies but also that it benefits the environment”.
“We are glad that more and more companies are taking steps towards transiting to the closed loop economy, reducing their impact on the environment,” declared Andrey Pisartsov, CEO of CHEP. “We are sure that pooling of reusable containers will soon become standard practice for Russian business”.
In honor of their first year of successful cooperation, employees of CHEP and AISFER transplanted an avenue of maple and cedar trees which now adorns the grounds at AISFER.
