GTE logistics successfully transported a universal milling machine measuring 540 x 417 x 415cm and weighing 32 tons from Germany to our client's warehouse in St. Petersburg. The day before the scheduled start of transportation, it was discovered that a construction site had been set up for bridge reconstruction along our intended route through Germany potentially threatening our haulage project. Our oversize cargo would possibly be blocked due to its size.
GTE Logistics entered into negotiations with the construction company overseeing the bridge reconstruction. We successfully reached an agreement to dismantle the site for a day allowing the through-passage of our hauling rig. We selected a low-loader with air suspension to transport the milling machine from Germany: precision machinery requires careful handling.
GTE Logistics specialists obtained approval and filed for all the necessary permits to transport oversize cargo through Germany to the port of loading. The oversize cargo was transported under police escort with escort vehicles. The transit time to the port of Luebeck totalled three days.
The cargo was then transported on MAFI roll-trailers by ferry to St. Petersburg to the Port of Bronka. After completing the necessary customs clearance procedures in the port, the oversize cargo was transferred to a lorry and delivered to the consignee's warehouse on a special rig with rear-wheel steering because of the difficult entry onto the warehouse territory. The cargo was also safeguarded by a convoy of escort vehicles and the police.
