29 July 2015, Moscow – JD.com, Inc. (Nasdaq:JD), China's largest online direct sales company, and Russian Post, Russia’s biggest delivery company, have announced the launch of a new strategic partnership making Russian Post the first Post company to become a JD.com authorized carrier.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Russian Post and JD.com today in Moscow, within the framework of cooperation development it is expected, that Russian Post will deliver goods directly from en.jd.com’s locations on the territory of Russia with Russian Post’s wide network. Thus the delivery from abroad will be conducted through designated postal operators of China, Singapore and other countries. In addition, the companies discussed the possibility of multifaceted cooperation in Russia, including on joint promotion of services, collaboration in building supply chains, as well as system integration.
Sergey Malyshev, Deputy Director-General of Russian Post said: “In fact, Russian Post has the largest network of distribution points - 42000 post offices across the country. In addition, we develop "last mile" services - open certain windows and centers of parcles receipt and issue, delivering to the house. Certainly, cooperation with en.jd.com will further contribute to reducing the time of good deliveris and improving the level of service for our customers.”
Victor Xu, JD.com’s CEO of International business unit said, “JD.com is actively developing partnerships with leading delivery operators throughout the world to maximize the efficiency of delivery solutions for the end customers. The addition of Russian Post, the largest logistics company with the widest network of branches across the country, as a JD.com authorized carrier will allow us to ensure prompt and reliable delivery of goods to Russian customers.”
