Annotation. The article analyzes the foreign experience of using artificial intelligence technology in customs operations and customs control of goods. The main directions of the use of this technology by the customs authorities are identified. Particular attention is paid to the use of technology for automatically determining and controlling the code of goods, which is not used by customs authorities in the Russian Federation. Based on the conducted retrospective analysis, proposals have been developed that allow leveling the problems of interpreting complex commercial descriptions in the classification of goods.
